Persistence of Stress Related Left Ventricular Filling Abnormality in Treated Hypertensive Patients
نویسندگان
چکیده
Hypertension is associated with impaired left ventricular (LV) diastolic function. However, the impact of stress on LV filling treated hypertensive individuals unclear. Fourteen patients (mean age 55 years) and 14 age-sex matched normotensive controls underwent Doppler echocardiographic studies at rest one minute following supine ergometer bicycle.

Rapid left ventricular filling in untreated hypertensive subjects with or without left ventricular hypertrophy.
In this study, independent contribution of age, HR, BMI, casual and ambulatory blood pressure, LVM and LVEF in evaluating diastolic filling have been investigated in 34 never-treated hypertensive patients and in 15 healthy normotensive subjects. All the subjects were free from coronary artery disease, valvular disease, heart failure, renal disease and psychiatric problems. All the hypertensive ...
متن کامل123I-MIBG myocardial imaging in hypertensive patients: abnormality progresses with left ventricular hypertrophy.
Twenty-seven patients with essential hypertension were prospectively studied with 123I-labeled metaiodobenzyl-guanidine (123I-MIBG) to assess the presence and location of impaired sympathetic innervation in hypertrophied myocardium. Thirteen patients had left ventricular hypertrophy on echocardiography, and 14 had normal echocardiograms. The wash out ratio of 123I-MIBG in these two groups did n...
متن کاملDevelopment of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Treated Hypertensive Outpatients
Left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy (LVH) is a marker of target organ damage in hypertension and helps stratifying cardiovascular risk. The effect of LVH on incident cardiovascular events is independent of conventional risk factors and of coronary artery disease. In selected subsets of nondiabetic patients, LVH also precedes new onset of diabetes mellitus, suggesting that hypertensive target orga...
متن کاملAbnormal left ventricular relaxation in hypertensive patients.
1. The maximum rates of left ventricular ejection and filling were derived (Fourier analysis) from the left ventricular volume curve (99m technetium-human serum albumin gated blood pool studies) in 12 normotensive subjects and 15 hypertensive patients of matched age groups. 2. Average values of cardiac output, ejection fraction, heart rate and left ventricular ejection rate were not significant...
متن کاملPrevalence and persistence of masked hypertension in treated hypertensive patients.
BACKGROUND Masked hypertension (MH) is defined as a normal blood pressure in the physician's office and an elevated blood pressure when measured out-of-office. The cause of MH may be termed the masked hypertension effect (MHE), and is not restricted to blood-pressure (BP) values around the thresholds for normal BP. We investigated the prevalence and persistence of MH and MHE in patients who wer...
